Being a mother of boys....

Well, I am back home after having a wonderful girls weekend away with Kim and *the girls* (9 of us in total) for Kim's Surprise 50th in Mooloolaba. We all met at Kim's and did the whole *SURPRISE!!* thingy with us hiding in the garage. We had so much fun...walks on the beach, shopping, lots of laughs, very late nights, great food and a few drinks. Some very tired ladies set off home on Sunday afternoon. Nic and Kate did such a great job organising it all.

I didnt have a lot of contact with Graeme and the boys over the weekend, what with the boys playing footy and Graeme working in the canteen...it was mostly messages...but it was a call on Sunday afternoon when we arrived back in Brissie that came as a shock. Michael was in hospital - he had broken his left arm AND his right hand ...playing footy!!! He spent Saturday night in hospital and was operated on on Sunday morning. He has pins in his wrist with a full cast and a backslab and a bandage on his hand. They had decided not to tell me about it until I got home...but then because they wanted to keep him in hospital another night they had to! They did what they thought was best for me...and I guess they were right. I would have been beside myself being so far away and not being able to do anything. I went straight to the hospital as soon as I got back from the airport about 9.30pm. We did laugh, due to a shortage of beds,he was in the *Kids Ward*. He was in a room that had racing car curtains, and elves painted on the walls!

I picked him up from the hospital this morning. There wont be any more footy this year for him, he will be out for about 10 weeks and that will pretty much be the end of the season ... He bought new footy boots last week! - only got to wear them once!

At this stage, he could be off work for 3 weeks. He has to go back to the hospital next Monday for X-Rays and a check up.

Boys!!!! Gotta love 'em.

Well I can totally sympathise with you here Debbie...one of my boys did the same 'trick' a couple of years ago although his injuries were from swinging from a Tarzan rope!!
Broke both his arms and couldn't do a thing...and I mean COULDN'T DO A THING!! Like use the toilet on his own...LOL
And being a boy...it was all quite amusing for him!
I hope you DS recovers quickly.
Cheers
